INTRODUCTION
The GPS check-in / check-out process relies on your phone “knowing” where it is (geographically). For example when a sitter clicks “Checkin” to check-in for a job, PSP asks the phone to supply a valid set of GPS coordinates. If the phone cannot provide them, then traditionally PSP would present the following error:
Error: Unable to Retrieve Location
If on successive check-in attempts if the situation was not resolved, then the sitter was unable to check-in which meant that the time the job started would not be recorded.
This meant that if your phone was unable to determine its location it was not possible to record the “check-in time”.
In release 5.8, the “Unable to Retrieve Location” error will no longer be displayed on the sitters phone. Instead, the phone will record the time of the check-in without any location information.
When this happens:
a) the words “(no location)” in brackets are shown next to the check-in / check-out time in the STAFF ACTIVITY report and
b) in the client portal, if your system is configured to show GPS data, the word “unknown” is shown next to the check-in / check-out time in the schedule interface.
